It once seemed impossible

I remember a time when it all seemed impossible.

I had many of those moments.

Leaving home at 16 to secure my own state of mind and safety was a great task in and of itself 

Leaving an abusive parent and another that was mentally unstable was my priority

I was not prepared for what was waiting for me on the other side 

I had the good fortune of friends and their families taking me in so I could finish high school.

They gave me much more than I could have hoped for.

I felt like I was one of the lucky ones.

THESE moments were always cherished and close to my heart. 

I felt joy.
Acceptance
Love
And even appreciated the discipline and tough love.
When you know it is coming from a good place, you tend to accept it a bit more.
It instilled values, guidance, and integrity in me.
It gave me hope, courage, and of course, cherished memories.

These were moments that to this day nearly 30 years later I carry with me.

I know that these short years will forever impact who I am today.
We are all built from different molds, but when we trust ourselves and listen to our hearts we are guided to where we need to be. 
No matter how difficult or ugly circumstances can be, there is always more out there 

Sometimes we just need to clean the lens of our glasses to see all the options there waiting for us.

Life IS what we make it.
We cannot control our past. 
Our past does NOT dictate our future. 
Things can change AT ANY MOMENT, if we accept and allow ourselves to be open to receive.

A new perspective, a new angle, one step forward
Sometimes that is all it takes.
